Former Clickout Media employee and poker journalist Blaise Bourgeois said his X account was hacked and deleted after he published an article criticizing Clickout Media earlier this year.
In a Substack post published on July 30, Bourgeois wrote that his account was compromised following his April article about the company. He also claimed that emails related to the incident and conversations with other journalists critical of Clickout Media were deleted. Bourgeois wrote that Clickout Media was “likely” responsible for the hack but did not provide evidence supporting that allegation.
“My Twitter account was hacked and immediately deleted, which was likely their doing,” Bourgeois wrote. “‘Coincidentally’, any e-mails linked to my Twitter being hacked or any discussions with other anti-ClickOut Media journalists were deleted.”
Bourgeois said he changed all of his passwords after the incident and added that he felt his privacy had been “massively invaded.”
Claims Follow Earlier Clickout Media Criticism
The new claims follow Bourgeois' April 16 Substack article, How ClickOut Media Killed Card Player Magazine, in which he criticized his former employer's business practices after leaving the company in 2025.
In that article, Bourgeois alleged that Clickout Media used acquired media brands to publish SEO-driven affiliate content while prioritizing search rankings and revenue over journalism. He also claimed the company continued using his byline on articles after his employment ended without his permission and said he intended to pursue legal action over what he described as wrongful termination and defamation.
Bourgeois also claimed that Card Player Magazine, which Clickout Media acquired in December 2024, would stop printing physical editions. Citing unnamed sources, he wrote that the magazine had been losing around $750,000 per year before the decision.
Latest Post Focuses Mainly on Personal Update
Beyond the hacking allegation, Bourgeois' latest Substack post primarily serves as a personal update covering the past three months. He wrote about his work as a research statistician for FOX's FIFA World Cup coverage, his run in the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event, and his current stay in Brazil, where he said he is playing online poker and preparing for upcoming tournaments.
The section discussing Clickout Media is brief and does not include additional evidence supporting Bourgeois' allegation that the company was connected to the compromise of his X account.
