As tokenized real-world assets, AI-generated content, and digital records become more common, projects are also exploring how to preserve the data linked to these assets over the long term. Xenea is one such project, aiming to combine a Layer-1 blockchain with decentralized storage as part of a single ecosystem.

Originally launched as CROSSVALUE Chain before rebranding to Xenea in July 2024, the project has introduced its own blockchain architecture, wallet, and supporting ecosystem while continuing to develop its roadmap.

What Is Xenea?

Xenea is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain designed to support decentralized applications with a native decentralized storage layer. The project aims to preserve digital assets and their associated data over the long term, addressing challenges that traditional blockchains face when relying on external storage solutions.

Following its rebrand, Xenea expanded its vision beyond asset tokenization to include AI, decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), and long-term data preservation. To support these goals, the blockchain combines a proprietary consensus mechanism with a native decentralized storage architecture, which are explored in the following sections.

How Does Xenea Work?

Xenea’s architecture consists of three main components: Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility, Proof of Democracy consensus, and Decentralized Autonomous Content Storage. Together, they allow developers to run smart contracts, validate transactions, and connect application data to decentralized storage.

EVM Compatibility

Xenea supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing developers to deploy Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and use familiar Web3 development tools. Applications built for other EVM networks can therefore be adapted for Xenea without requiring an entirely new programming environment.

Proof of Democracy

Proof of Democracy (PoD) is Xenea’s proprietary consensus mechanism. Escrow Nodes produce blocks, temporarily hold transferred tokens, and coordinate transaction validation, while randomly selected Representative Nodes vote on whether transactions are valid. A transaction is finalized and the tokens are released after the voting result meets the protocol’s 75% approval threshold.

Decentralized Autonomous Content Storage

DACS connects Xenea with distributed file systems so applications can store content separately while recording its associated hashes and ownership information on the blockchain. Its initial design uses IPFS, while additional replication, dynamic-data, and retrieval features are planned to support long-term data availability.

PoD is operating on Xenea’s public testnet, while DACS is being introduced in phases and should not yet be presented as a fully deployed storage system.

XENEA Wallet

XENEA Wallet is the official mobile wallet for the Xenea ecosystem. Initially released as a rewards application in 2024, it gained on-chain functionality with the launch of version 2.0 in May 2025. The wallet supports Ethereum, Polygon PoS, BNB Chain, and Xenea’s Ubusuna public testnet, allowing users to manage supported assets, send and receive tokens, and connect to decentralized applications through WalletConnect.

The wallet uses social login and multiparty computation technology instead of requiring users to manage a conventional seed phrase. Xenea describes it as non-custodial, although users must still secure their backup information and follow the wallet’s recovery procedures.

XENEA Wallet also provides missions, quizzes, referrals, and testnet activities that award Gems. These points may determine eligibility for future ecosystem rewards, including planned XENE distributions and Mining Passport NFTs, but they are not tokens and do not guarantee an airdrop.

In the planned Proof of Democracy system, eligible wallets holding a Mining Passport NFT will be able to participate in transaction voting and receive network rewards. This feature depends on Xenea’s mainnet and reward system and should not be presented as active XENE mining.

Xenea Token (XENE)

XENE is the planned native cryptocurrency of the Xenea blockchain. It is designed to support network incentives, decentralized storage and activity across applications built on Xenea.

Participants who help validate transactions through Proof of Democracy will receive XENE block rewards. DACS node operators must also stake XENE as collateral and can earn rewards for providing decentralized storage. Other applications may require XENE for fees or ecosystem services, although the exact uses will depend on the final mainnet specifications.

Xenea states that direct XENE transfers will have no gas fee, while fungible-token and NFT transactions may incur minimal or variable fees. This means ordinary users may not need XENE for every transfer, while node operators, storage providers and users interacting with fee-bearing applications are more likely to require it.

Xenea has set a maximum supply of 18,328,109,640 XENE, including 12,016,589,640 tokens designated for issuance at genesis and 6,311,520,000 reserved for mining rewards. The project increased the token denomination tenfold in August 2025, which explains why older sources report a maximum supply of 1.83 billion XENE.
